Residents and visitors at Picket Piece will be able to access a new defibrillator, which has been put in place at the One Stop Shop on Locksbridge Road.
The life-saving equipment is accessible to anyone in the area. A local group is being formed to support residents and businesses with maintaining defibrillators and training the community in their use.
The defibrillator was installed on Thursday, October 31 after Andover Town Council was awarded £500 towards its installation. The community raised a further £825 through fundraising activities and donations, led by the Picket Piece Defibrillator Fundraising Team.
Andover Town Mayor, Councillor Heather Neate, commented: “I am pleased that the Council has been able to support a local initiative to improve community safety and welfare.”
Picket Piece Defibrillator Fundraising Lead, Stuart Randall, added: “It’s been an incredible accomplishment to work with a dedicated team of fundraisers.
"The support from Andover Town Council and One Stop Shop has been outstanding, demonstrating their commitment to community initiatives. We’re also grateful for the generous contributions from Picket Piece Social Club, and the wider community.”
