If England’s rugby team are playing better than ever, it might be due to a hearing advantage after Andover ear specialists, Earlab spent a day treating the team.
The company, which specialises in ear wax removal, was invited to Twickenham to set up a temporary clinic, ahead of the Autumn Internationals. Business partner, Tim Galvin said the day was a huge success:
“Ear wax removal is something everyone needs, but if your ears are blocked on a rugby field and you can’t hear a call, that’s pretty important!”
Mr Galvin initially thought that his business partner, ENT specialist, David Walker, would treat about ten players during the day, but wasn’t prepared for what happened:
“Players finished the treatment and said their hearing was so much better and told their teammates. We ended up seeing many more players and coaching staff than expected as word spread around Twickenham. It will be nice to think we’ve given them a slight competitive advantage.”
Earlab ended up treating 37 players, and Tim said it was a momentous day: “This was a huge honour for us and a massive achievement for our small but growing company. We’re punching above our weight and we are now an approved supplier to England Rugby.”

The timing is particularly relevant as the Autumn Internationals are currently taking place each weekend during November. Among the players being treated was Marcus Smith, the stand-out England player in the match against the New Zealand All Blacks
Earlab opened its clinic in Andover last year in West March Business Centre after expanding from Surrey.
