A free pop-up cinema is coming to Andover this December.

The festive screenings, organised by Test Valley Borough Council, will be held from December 6 to 8 in the former O2 unit of the Chantry Centre.

On Friday, December 6, the classic film It's a Wonderful Life will be shown at 11am.

On Saturday, December 7, The Polar Express will be screened at 10am and 1pm, and on Sunday, December 8, The Grinch will be shown at 10am and 1pm.

Tickets for all screenings are free and there is no need to book, but spaces will be limited.

Free drinks and popcorn will be available for audiences to enjoy, and on Saturday and Sunday, children can participate in festive craft activities.

The pop-up cinema is part of a weekend of festive activities in the town centre.

On Saturday, December 7, families can visit the Chantry Centre Christmas Grotto to meet Father Christmas and start their shopping at the indoor market.

On Sunday, December 8, Andover’s modern market, Second Sundays, will be popping up in the High Street with a host of artisan traders, street food, live music from Test Valley and Andover brass bands and Sing for Fun Choir, and a free creative workshop.

Council leader, Cllr Phil North, said: "This is the first time we’ve organised a pop-up cinema in the Chantry Centre and I hope families will get into the festive spirit and head to the centre of town to make the most of the films and refreshments on offer.

"We’ve got some great markets taking place on the same weekend, offering an opportunity to support local businesses and find some unique Christmas gifts."
