People are being asked to nominate their "local hero" for an award.

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Donna Jones, has announced details of her annual awards ceremony which recognises and honours the invaluable contributions made by volunteers and partners to sustaining safer communities.

The 2025 PCC Awards in March will shine a light on all volunteers and staff from across the public, private and voluntary sectors who make a huge difference supporting policing.

Members of the public are now being encouraged to nominate their local hero for the Community Volunteer of the Year Award.

The accolade recognises someone who works tirelessly to make their community safer, either in a formal volunteer role within an organisation or someone who volunteers on their own to help others.

Ms Jones said: "My awards ceremony is a fantastic occasion to highlight and say thank you to all the volunteers, partners, community groups and dedicated staff who make a vital contribution to policing.

"The value they add to the work of the constabulary and the wider criminal justice system is enormous.

"If you know a local hero who makes a real difference in your community, please nominate them for my Community Volunteer of the Year Award."

Nominations close on Friday, December 20.
