Christmas has arrived in Andover with a bang, festive cheer and a wild crowd as thousands gathered to watch the festive light switch-on for 2024.

The Andover Christmas Festival offered a day live entertainment, activities and family-friendly events in the town centre.

Event highlights included Live entertainment across three stages:

Children from school choirs, the Andover Ladies Choir and dancers entertained the crowds in the lead-up to the Christmas Lights Switch-on at 7pm with the Mayor and Father Christmas at the Guildhall Stage.

On the Town Mills Stage, a line-up of live bands, including High Road, Hollow Afterthought, and Nokando performed, followed by a Christmas Disco.

While over on the Bridge Street Stage, the Andover College Singers, Ingenious Gentlemen, Test Valley Brass Band, Andover Rock Choir and Andover Town Band were in full swing.

There were plenty of family-friendly activities including the Christmas Grotto, where children had the opportunity to meet Father Christmas, storytelling and magic shows Fairground Rides & free face painting took place inside the Chantry Centre.

Local independent businesses had a chance to showcase their wares at the Christmas baked goods and confectionery, toys and festive decorations.

There was no shortage of food & drink, as local cafes along Riverside Park offered hot food including crepes, pizza, street food, and vegan dishes.

The evening ended with live music from rock band, Stonepig at the Guildhall stage. Despite weather warnings of strong winds and rain, organisers were relieved that predicted heavy rains didn't sweep in until the following morning.
