A CARD shop in the town centre is closing down in the new year.

Clintons, at 48a High Street, is currently holding a closing down sale, with 20 per cent off everything in store.

It comes as staff were reportedly informed of the impending closure three weeks ago.

The Advertiser understands that the card shop is due to close in April 2025.

The former market leader for greetings cards, Clintons was purchased by family-owned greetings card specialist Cardzone in March this year.

Nationally, Clintons has closed 84 per cent of stores in recent years, with just 163 Clintons branches left nationwide, down from its peak of more than 1,000.
