JOHN Hobbs of Andover said he is not a fan of professional sports awards as he prefers amateurs to people who are paid to play.

He said: “I’m an all-round sportsman and I used to play cricket, rugby and hockey but its better if you can train and work hard without someone paying you to.”

“They’re all overpaid and most of them are millionaires before they’re old enough.”
