ANDOVER market trader Kes Singh believes the site occupied by Woolies could be used to bring in more people if it was used properly.
“We need the council to buy the property and open an indoor market which would bring more people into town,” he said. “What killed this town was the council pedestrianising this area and then allowing shops such as Asda to open on the outskirts.”
He says market magazines show plenty of examples elsewhere in the country where local authorities have facilitated indoor markets.
