TWO charities are set to benefit from the 22nd fun run which is taking place in Stockbridge on 11 January.

The run is due to start from the Town Hall at 10am.

The run was initially set up to help raise money to support sportsman George Skeates and his family after he was seriously injured in a crash in 1985.

Until the accident George used to take part in side car-cross at British championship and international level.

This year the fun run will be raising cash both for Inspire, a charity based at Salisbury District Hospital helping people with spinal injuries, and Wessex Heartbeat in Southampton.

Inspire was selected after George was treated in the hospital’s spinal injuries unit while the second charity was chosen following the death of organiser Jeremy Crossman’s father from heart disease in 1994.

The fun event has a choice of courses (three or eight miles) and participants can run, walk or cycle.

Entry for the event, costing £8 per adult and £4 per child and the unemployed, can be done in advance to avoid delays on the day.

Entry forms can be obtained from Jeremy on 01794 500600.
