POLICE are hunting a man who grabbed a 13-year-old girl and made suggestive remarks as she walked her dogs in Ladies Walk, between Iron Bridge and London Road in Andover.
The girl was walking her dogs between 3.30pm and 4pm last Saturday when she was approached by the man.
He tried to grab hold of her, but she managed to struggle free and the man ran away.
The man is described as white, aged 30 to 40 years, 5ft 8ins to 6ft tall, skinny build and clean-shaven.
He was wearing a dark blue or black baseball cap, a brown jacket and blue jeans. Det Constable Nigel Horner of Andover CID said: “This type of incident is extremely rare. The girl has been left shaken by what happened.
“We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, saw the girl walking her dogs, or a man matching this description on Saturday afternoon.
“We are particularly keen to speak to an older couple seen walking along the footpath towards Iron Bridge. They may hold vital information.
“Parents and guardians are encouraged to ensure their children are aware of the dangers strangers present. Young people are also encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious people to a parent or guardian, who should inform the police.”
Anyone with information should contact DC Horner at Andover CID on 0845 045 45 45, or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
