A ROMSEY woman has been made to pay more than £700 after being found guilty of racially aggravated behaviour following a trial.
Forty-four-year-old Ellen Smith, of Sutherland Close, was found to have caused harassment and distress by using abusive or threatening words or behaviour on Boxing Day last year.
Smith denied the charges, but was found guilty after a summary trial at Southampton Magistrates Court on May 18.
The court said that the charge was also racially aggravated.
Magistrates put a community order in place, ordering Smith to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
On top of that, a restraining order was put in place against two people until May 2019.
Smith also had to pay £625 court costs, and an £80 victim surcharge.
