WHITCHURCH hosted Trojans for a one-sided contest where Alex Melkonian, despite losing the first game, had the measure of his opponent for another victory at one.
Brett Farmer, enjoying the number two slot, breezed to a comfortable 3-0 win.
Captain Dave Adamson at three raised his game for a confident win against a higher rated player and at four Nathan Routley continued his fine form this season – both winning 3-0.
The closest contest of the night was at five where recalled Alan Painter used his match skills to lead 2-0 against a much lower ranked player and looked a certainty.
However the third game in squash is always the most important and after a fight back from the Trojan player to win this game, then quickly followed by the fourth, suddenly the match was even.
But the momentum had shifted and this combined with Alan tiring, a Trojan victory followed.
Whitchurch stay top with 19 points going into the next game against Nuffield Health.
The Vets faced a trip to fellow strugglers Winchester in an endeavour to stop the losing run.
Captain Rob King had his strongest available team with Biffer Gibson finally returning from injury.
While Biffer looked outstanding in the knock up, 0his match was aborted after two points with a serious back injury and he could be out for weeks.
Erdogan Ince played their Scottish international and finally managed his first Vet victory of the season winning 3-1 to level the match.
King, who so far had been the only points winner for Whitchurch this season, was in tremendous form winning 3-0.
The Vets team this season has been plagued by both injury and availability problems and are not competing properly in the matches.
As a result, theyhave withdrawn from the Hampshire League.
