ANDOVER ace Richard Spencer-Fleet had an eventful weekend in the Ducati Trioptions Cup at Oulton Park.
Qualifying did not go as well as planned. With the riders going onto the track the rain started, drizzling in areas and rain flags all over circuit. Still having good pace in areas Spencer-Fleet qualified in 20th.
In race one the Andover rider had moved up to 15th and was in the points, but lap five he struggled again with arm pump.
Then suddenly an unexpected failure of a part allowed the water from radiator to leak onto the rear tyre.
With a horrendous high side in the making Spencer-Fleet was able to save it just in the nick of time but was over taken by five riders and a crash saw the race red flagged as he finishing in 22nd.
Starting 18th in race two another amazing start saw him into top 15 at turn one, but he was forced towards the kerbs and had to roll the throttle allowing riders to pass.
Spencer-Fleet then had a great battle, but the pump problem came back and allowed a gap to form finishing in 21st.
Spencer-Fleet said: "Even with the bike and arm issues. I still come away with a smile, new personal bests and held fastest speeds in two of four sectors. Now look forward to Donington Park on the weekend of May 25.
