AN ANDOVER teenager made his England rugby debut last weekend.
The young scrum-half Tom Carr-Smith, who's family live at Amport near Andover , took the field for his first cap for England under 20's against France in Cardiff.
Tom signed his first professional contract with Bath Rugby Club last year.
His first taste of rugby was with Andover RFC at the age of five, and he attended Chafyn Grove School in Salisbury between the ages of eight and 13.
He played for the 'All Blacks ' for several years before moving on to Sherbourne school and Bath.
His form has now gained recognition at the highest level despite still being in the U19 age group.
Andover RFC director of rugby Andy Waite said: "I had the pleasure of coaching Tom for several years as a youngster and he always had that combination you need to go a long way, of ability and commitment.
"He's a great lad always keen to learn and improve and it's a real feather in our cap as a community club that he is doing so well.
"He still has many friends playing at Andover and we follow his progress with great pride."
