TWO days of racing took place around the 1.85 mile-long Castle Combe circuit over the weekend under mixed weather conditions for a group of Hampshire drivers, writes Tim Crisp.
In the Classic Touring Car Racing Club Pre 93/03 championship Jamie Sturges in his stunning BMW E28 M535 had a 10th and 13th place overall finishes with two firsts in class results.
Also in the same races, Ian Knight in the Honda Civic Type R came home in 20th and 6th places overall which gave him a 15th and 4th in class results for his weekend's work.
Tom Lenthall had two strong drives in the CTCRC Jaguar Challenge races, finishing second in race one and following this up with a race win in race two, in his Jaguar XJS and in the CTCRC 66/83 Touring car races Don Hughes driving his VW Golf GTI recorded a 4th and 2nd overall and two class wins.
Ray Ferguson had a busy weekend as he was out in both the CCRC Hot Hatch Series and also as a guest driver in the Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club Championship, in the Hot Hatch races he came home to two 3rd in class finishes, and then folled this up with two 1st in class results in the Owners club championship.
