STUART Archibald, from Test Valley, was awarded third place at the recent Logan Trophy held at Orsett Golf Club.

Even amidst heavy rain, Scott Wormleighton triumphed, finishing as the only player in this tournament under par.

Wormleighton clinched victory on the final day with a score of 69 (-3). Having started the day two shots behind then leader, Joseph Deraney, Wormleighton maintained an impressive performance, birdying three of the first five holes.

Though 2023 champion David Corben demonstrated resilience, he ultimately landed in second place.

Despite a shaky start, Corben's rounds of 72 (level-par) secured his position. However, it wasn't enough to challenge Wormleighton, who stayed three shots ahead at -3 overall.

Meanwhile, Deraney's success dwindled towards the end, taking five bogeys in the final six, resulting in a tied fourth place finish.

Third place was awarded to Archibald, who finished on +2.

He was followed by Orsett's own Shaun Mills, and fellow club member Jason Renton, both delivering strong performances that saw them tie for fourth position.

Final day performances also saw Andy Grimwood rise to tied-sixth place, one of only three players to finish under par on the last day.

Whilst participants grappled with the stormy weather, Wormleighton's consistency and drive secured his victory.

Wormleighton, Archibald, and the other golfers have proven their ability to navigate the unpredictable, a skill surely to be called upon in future competitive games.
