ANDOVER New Street entertained Devizes Town at the D H Property Services Stadium on Tuesday evening with the game finishing with honours even, and a one all scoreline, after an entertaining 90 minutes that served both sides well as they approach the new season.

The almost day long rain had happily ceased leading to a pleasant evening and an enjoyable game.

Devizes, after a lifetime in the Western League, now find themselves in the Hellenic League and on the evening’s showing, should do well.

Street included most of the players who served themselves so well at the end of last season, though Aaron Randall and Liam Hibberd have retired and Ethan Gay has moved up a level by joining Sholing.

(Image: Andover New Street Facebook) Two familiar faces in Callum Sweeney and Josh Moore have returned to the ranks and a clearer picture as regards the squad may come after this coming Saturday’s trip to Wessex Division One side Cove for Friendly number three.

Both goals came late in the second half with Street converting a penalty after a rash challenge by the visiting goalkeeper and Devizes swiftly equalising after the home defence got themselves in something of a tangle.

The previous Tuesday New Street travelled to Shrewton for a fairly low-key game in a pleasant setting.

The home side are managed by George Plank, who has played for Street in the past, and are members of the Wiltshire Senior League, and the game finished with a four goal victory for Street with Josh Moore, Shane Lock and Leyton Tulk among the scorers.

Street have never played either Devizes or Shrewton in a competitive fixture and wish both sides well for the coming season.
