HOWDEN Insurance branches are running a competition ahead of The British & Irish Lions Australian Tour 2025.

Participants are invited to design a Canterbury Lions jersey that encapsulates the spirit of the tour.

The competition is open to all members of the public.

The winner will receive a framed version of their shirt design along with up to thirty shirts for their local rugby team.

This competition is one of several events planned by Howden Insurance, including community rugby sponsorships, kit exchanges, 'Lions Pet Pawtraits' and family fun days.

Through these initiatives, the firm aims to support not just local rugby, but the wider local sport community.

Howden is committed to ensuring local sports clubs can survive and thrive in future generations.

This includes providing protection to local clubs and assisting them in acquiring the suitable cover for their equipment and property.

Howden also sponsors local teams to ensure that players of all backgrounds, ages and abilities, have the support required to address challenges.

The drive to support the local community aligns with the company's broader goal of contributing to the longevity of local sports and its central role in the community.

Mark Bird, branch manager at Howden Andover, said: "Having the Howden name emblazoned on The British & Irish Lions jersey is a privilege and an honour. And we must earn our right to be on the iconic shirt, just as every player who’s worn it has.

"Rugby has many opportunities, and yet as a sport, faces so many challenges on and off the field - that’s why we’re so committed to helping rugby thrive in the communities we serve.

"With the Lions as our North Star, we’re working at a grassroots level to nurture future talent, and protect the values that help make sport an integral part of local communities. Values that bond and unite us, reminding us what is so special about the game. Here’s to the exciting journey that lies ahead – we can’t wait to share it with you!"
