Andover Swimming and Water Polo Club's rising star, Lily Ross, was recently selected to represent Great Britain as part of the Under-19 Women’s Water Polo squad for the European Championships.

Ross, known for her versatility and skill in the water, joined a carefully selected squad of 13 players who travelled to Zagreb, Croatia, at the end of August.

The team, led by head coach Izzy Howe, were drawn in Group D.

They fought hard against their first components Germany, narrowly missing out on a win with Lily Ross scoring in the final second of the third, but Germany came back in the fourth and went on to win.

The second match was against Bulgaria and the team came back fighting hard and went on to win 32-6.

After seven games, the GB Team went on to be crowned ninth overall in Europe.

A determined team secured five wins from seven games with a whopping 93 goals scored in total.

Lily was one of the five members of the current squad who were part of the U17 team that placed 13th at the European Championships last year.

Head coach Howe expressed her pride in the team, highlighting their versatility and dedication.

"This team is made up of a versatile and talented group of players," she said.

"Their hard work and dedication towards this competition over the last year, especially over the past six weeks, has been massive, and we are so excited to go to the Europeans and showcase this. The opportunity to play internationally for Great Britain is one we never take for granted."

The club were cheering her on from the UK, and they cant wait to see what the future holds for this bright young star.
