WITH a fine blend of youth and experience, Longparish cricketers have stimulated a successful start to their winter six-a-side indoor campaign in the Winchester and District League.
The first team, under long serving batsman George Kousseff, has upset some of the big boys in Division One by taking the scalps of Fair Oak, Tichbourne Park, St Cross Symondians and Eastleigh - losing only once to Compton and Chandlers Ford, the present league leaders.
Longparsh sit joint second at the half way stage.
The Seconds, under chief coach Justin Jackman, have done equally well in Division Three by winning four matches and losing only one and are also joint second and loooking for promotion.
The most encouraging aspect is the U16s who are undefeated, with most of the boys are 14 and under. Prospects for Lonparish cricket have never looked brighter.
With all these attributes in place it is hoped their will be a good attendance at the AGM, at Longparish School on Monday, February 23 at 7.45pm.
The club would like to wish stalwart Steve Benco a speedy recovery after twisting a knee and suffering a heavy fall.
