After four seasons and 215 undefeated games at the top of Division One, Andy Snellgrove finally had an off day and saw his fantastic run ended by Richard Jones of Figheldean.
Not only did the unthinkable happen but Jones took just three sets to unseat the king. Brian Cook also got close to causing a second upset by taking Snellgrove to five sets before losing 11-9 in the final. The 7-3 win for Figheldean keeps the championship race wide open as Tigers were rapidly catching the leaders. Wolversdene could field only two players against Hanson A but Harris and Whitelock proved too strong and gave the Love Lane club a 6-4 victory. Gerry Vaughan recorded his first hat-trick of wins this season when Hanson C entertained South Wonston Ash. The Ash were without their regular players and were forced to pull Phil and Ollie Lee up from the Second Division in order to complete the fixture. In the resulting 9-1 victory, Chris Stockdale also scored a triple and Nick George two, narrowly losing out to David Binns 7-11, 11-5, 12-10, 4-11, 9-11.
