Liam Francis of Test Valley B took full advantage of a below strength D team to record his first ever hat-trick of wins at the Depot on Friday.
Together with Rob Macey and Keiron Grist, they scored an impressive 7-3 victory. They could have got another, but for a spirited fight-back from Adam Lockington and Charlie Murphy who took the doubles. Toby Warran, who is just nine years old, was celebrating his first league win when he teamed up with Ben Addington to take the doubles for Leopards in their 6-4 win over Test Valley E. Ben had paved the way to victory with a fine hat-trick of singles wins. Chasing the leaders are Test Valley C, led by Ollie Baxter, who travelled to South Wonston Walnut. Baxter continued his good form but Will Woodman defeated Adam Baxter and James Percival to restrict the school side to a 7-3 win.
In Division One, leaders Figheldean were held 5-5 by second placed Hanson A. Three from Lionel Coles and two from Brian Rayment did the trick while Dan Geary was the most successful Hanson player with two wins. Another drawn game featured the Ash team and Wolversdene. Edwin Slot, who plays for the Hampshire Juniors, scored a triple, but only after he defeated Trevor Whitelock in a fantastic five set thriller where he came back from two sets to one down to win 14-12 in the fifth. A crushing 10-0 win by Hanson B over their C team saw them move into third place, thanks to Dave Dobson, Brian Fox and John Shepherd.
Top marks for young Rueben Grimshaw who was asked to move up a division in order to help the stretched South Wonston Cedar side. His resulting three wins proved just how good he is against better opposition and he never looked in danger of being beaten against Hanson D in the 6-4 win. A second 6-4 result saw Depot A just emerge as winners thanks to a win in the doubles from Kenneth Gates and James Todd, who took the game 11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 11-9.
