Andover Hockey 3 Reigate Priory 3.

Andover travelled hoping to continue from last week’s performance, although it was never going to be easy as they were missing a number of players.

They were put under immediate pressure with Reigate pushing forward in numbers, but this left space at the back which they utilised as Leroy Smudger intercepted a loose pass and moved the ball quickly for Aron Walker to deflect between the keeper’s legs. Andover looked to capitalise and from a short corner Walker moved the ball wide to Guy Slieman-Hiscock who had time to pick his spot.

Andover were two goals to the good and playing well but sadly couldn’t prevent Reigate from pulling back to equalise and were lucky not to go in at half-time behind thanks to Doug Strickland in goal. Reigate took the lead from the restart then ill discipline meant they played most of the second half with ten and at one time nine as a handful of yellow cards were produced. Despite this they held off Reigate and with two minutes left from a short corner Walker gave Andover a hard-earned point.

They host fellow league strugglers Hamble tomorrow after managing to double their points tally in their last two games.
