HAVING recently moved into my new flat in Bridge Street, parking can be somewhat tedious trying to find a legal parking space as a resident.
I had arranged to share a space which was allocated to one of the High Street shops, and I could use this space when it was not in use, ie Sundays.
I had parked my car as usual and received a wheel clamp on my vehicle at 0613 am and noted that it would cost me £120 to have it removed.
I phoned the company and explained the situation and was told in no uncertain terms that if you don't pay, the clamp stays on and the payment will increase the longer it stays on.
I asked for the clamp to be removed and they said they would send round an officer to remove it.
Two hours later two ‘officers’ arrived and demanded their money which was very intimidating.
A pensioner would have been terrified.
So much for Christmas spirit!
