HAVE the Liberal Democrats made a mistake in re-selecting Robin Hughes to stand for Hampshire County Council in next year’s County Council elections?
Following the loss of his seat and leadership of the Liberal Democrat Group on Test Valley Borough Council last year, another Liberal Democrat councillor Mark Cooper said residents of Enham Alamein did not turn out to vote for Mr Hughes as they were convinced that he would be re-elected anyway. A more likely explanation perhaps was Mr Hughes’ failure to respond to correspondence from voters and a belief he would be re-elected come what may.
Secondly, I wish president Elect Barack Obama all the best in the difficult tasks ahead of him but wonder if it will be the Conservative wing of his own party rather than the opposition republicans that pose his biggest threat.
