THE all powerful computer has landed in Andover at Homebase.
After a busy family Christmas we needed to replace two kitchen chairs: the existing seating had seen a hard life and was now in need of urgent replacement.
Imaging my surprise when I saw exactly what I wanted: the helpful sales assistant was summoned and a discussion about the purchase followed.
Unfortunately, on checking the computer system it was clear that the chairs could only be purchased in fours.
I politely said that I only wanted to replace the two I have that are worn out. My offer was declined although, some chairs could be purchased in twos; but not the ones I wanted.
A very clear case of ‘Computer Says No’ – I therefore had no choice and decided to look elsewhere.
Welcome to the real Little Britain.
