I AM exploring the possibility of establishing a science society in the area.
The aim would be to have a group of people who would enjoy hearing about modern science and updating their knowledge.
The group would be open to those with or without any formal background and, eventually, to science students.
Topics would include botany, zoology, physiology, ecology, astronomy, geology, engineering, mathematics, computing, chemistry or physics.
In fact any investigative topic is available for inclusion.
For example, I’d love to hear how to drive a steam locomotive, or to build an electric car or how a plant’s transport or immune system functions.
Speakers would be invited from our local universities, science-based industries or from our own membership.
Visits to the planetarium near Winchester, science industries, research establishments or London’s museums would be possible.
If this is of any interest to you please email me.
If around 20 people show interest then an initial meeting can be held and a committee formed.
